# Creating a thing with AnyNetThingType

When you create an AWS IoT thing that uses an AnyNet Secure SIM, select one of these types:

* `AnyNetThingType` for Eseye-designed implementations.
* `CompatibleAnyNetThingType` for bespoke implementations. This type indicates that Eseye must manage the thing.

### AnyNetThingType attributes

| Attribute      | Description                                                                                                                                                                                                                   | Mandatory? |
| -------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------- |
| ActionRequest | Allows actions to be performed when updating the thing | ✗ |
| PolicySelector | The name of the policy that you want to attach to the thing. The policy must exist in the same AWS Region where you are creating the thing. Leave blank to use the Eseye-supplied default policy. For more information, see . | ✗ |
| SimID | The SIM number of the Eseye SIM card associated with the device. | ✓ |

{% hint style="warning" %}
If you create custom things, `CompatibleAnyNetThingType` is mandatory. It must contain the `SimID` attribute and your bespoke attributes.
{% endhint %}

For information about thing properties, see the [AWS ThingAttribute API reference](http://docs.aws.amazon.com/iot/latest/apireference/API_ThingAttribute.html).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.eseye.com/anynet-sim/device-integration/creating-a-thing-with-anynetthingtype.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
