# Safety Information

This section provides essential safety information for the proper and secure use of the HERA 204 router. Read and follow these guidelines to prevent personal injury and property damage.

Read all safety instructions before using the device. Follow these guidelines to prevent electrical shock, burns, or injury. Failure to comply with these safety instructions may result in serious injury or damage. Always prioritise safety when working with electronic equipment.

### Installation and location

When choosing an installation location:

* Keep the unit away from direct sunlight.
* Do not place the unit close to heat sources, such as other electrical equipment.
* Do not enclose the unit in unventilated housing where heat may accumulate.
* Avoid locations with heavy soiling, machinery exhaust, industrial liquids or airborne particles, or excessive dust.
* Locate the Hera within 1 metre of a mains power outlet.
* Do not mount the Hera more than 2 metres above the floor. A falling device can cause injury.

### Antennas and power

Follow these antenna and power requirements:

* The supplied antennas are not for outdoor use. If you use an outdoor antenna, ensure it provides adequate lightning protection.
* Use only an approved Limited Power Source (LPS) mains adaptor that complies with IEC/UL 60950-1 or IEC/UL 62368-1.
* Do not modify the mains power adaptor.

{% hint style="warning" %}
An unapproved power adaptor may damage the unit. It also invalidates the warranty and Hera regulatory approval.
{% endhint %}

### Radio frequency and cellular safety

The Hera uses radio signals and cellular networks. It is not guaranteed to connect in every condition. Never rely solely on a wireless device for life-critical communications.

The Hera incorporates a GSM radio module. When powered on, it receives and transmits radio frequency (RF) energy.

Follow these RF safety requirements:

* Position cellular antennas at least one metre away from people during normal operation.
* Never install the Hera where it is prohibited, or where it may cause interference or danger.
* In healthcare facilities, follow on-site mobile phone restrictions. Medical equipment can be sensitive to RF energy.
* We recommend testing for interference before permanently installing the Hera near implanted medical equipment, such as cardiac pacemakers and hearing aids.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Post a clear, visible warning alongside the Hera. Inform people with medical implants about the potential danger of RF interference.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
RF energy may interfere with TV sets, radios, computers, and inadequately shielded equipment nearby.
{% endhint %}

### Prohibited environments

{% hint style="danger" %}
[Do not operate GSM equipment, including the Hera, on aircraft. It can interfere with communication systems. Violations may result in suspended or terminated cellular service, or legal proceedings.](#user-content-fn-1)[^1]
{% endhint %}

Do not operate the Hera in these environments:

* Areas with flammable gases, fumes, or potentially explosive atmospheres.
* Areas where blasting operations take place.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.eseye.com/hera204/reference/safety-information.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
