# ETMHFWREAD – reads a section of the new host firmware image

Reads consecutive sections of the new firmware image. You can set the size of each section.

If a host firmware image was previously downloaded using AT+ETMHFWGET, it is stored in flash memory on the module. For information about AT+ETMHFWGET, see ETMHFWGET – checks for new host firmware.

After reading the whole image, the MCU application should run a checksum to compare its copy and the one supplied by AnyNet SMARTconnect™. This ensures the local copy was accurately copied from AnyNet SMARTconnect™. The checksum is always four characters long, with leading zeros where required. or ERROR |

#### Example

To read 46 bytes in 16 byte chunks:

```
AT+ETMHFWREAD=0,16
+ETMHFWREAD:
OK
```

```
AT+ETMHFWREAD=16,16
+ETMHFWREAD:
OK
```

```
AT+ETMHFWREAD=32,14
+ETMHFWREAD:
OK
```

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.eseye.com/smartconnect/at-command-reference/management-at-commands/etmhfwread-reads-a-section-of-the-new-host-firmware-image.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
